Impact

Junior Achievement of Greater Cleveland (JA) empowers young people to own their economic success. JA works within Cuyahoga, Lake, Lorain and Geauga Counties connecting corporate and community volunteers to classrooms to provide financial literacy, career-readiness and entrepreneurship education in grades K-12.

From the board of directors to staff members to teachers, volunteers and donors, the JA community is filled with passionate and dedicated professionals committed to delivering our world-class, relevant economic education programs to the young people we serve. Our programs develop life skills, encourage hope and inspire success.

JA is seeking a team-oriented individual interested in our mission, and in a development career within JA that begins with a focus on special event fundraisers. The Development Coordinator will contribute to JA’s development activities, including corporate and individual campaigns, Bowl-A-Thon, Online Auction and Golf Invitational.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develops a deep understanding of Junior Achievement’s mission and goals to effectively recruit volunteers and donors.
• Build collaborative relationships with special event participants.
• Identify, cultivate and recruit corporate volunteer coordinators to develop corporate participation through sponsorships and company Bowl-A-Thon teams.
• Train event participants to maximize their fundraising potential, and strategize with corporate partners to meet fundraising goals.
• Achieve revenue goals though planning and execution of special event fundraisers in coordination with Development staff (some evenings and weekends required).
• Works within a solicitation plan to building new and nurturing current relationships through a series of personal visits, meetings, events and follow up stewardship practices.
• Solicit donations for JA Online Auction and work with team to hit weekly targets.
• Manage contacts in web-based CRM and report progress.

Qualifications (desired)

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 1 year nonprofit fundraising experience, although equivalent sales experience will be considered.
• Track record of success in developing and managing corporate partnerships, cultivating donor relationships, and growing stewardship processes.
• Must possess outstanding presence, self-confidence & enthusiasm and be comfortable engaging with all levels of stakeholders. Public speaking experience preferred.
• Comfort with fundraising and “making the ask.”
• Work experience must demonstrate the ability to plan strategically and to successfully guide/execute special events. Special consideration given to individuals with peer-to-peer fundraising experience.
